A BUEN RITMO

If you have mastered the basic level and have a solid foundation in the language, your next step is the intermediate level, which at our school we call A buen ritmo. This name reflects that you can now communicate more confidently, follow conversations, express your ideas, and understand texts more easily, showing that you are on track. This is the stage where your learning becomes more active and corresponds to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

As in all our levels, the AULA coursebooks are the main resource for our courses, complemented by additional materials provided by the teachers as needed. For this level, we use Aula 3 Internacional, which covers the content of the four courses into which this level is divided.

In our courses, lessons are presented clearly, with enough time to study and consolidate knowledge. That’s why we divide each level into several courses, ensuring that learning is truly effective. This level, in particular, is organized into the following courses:

• B1.1 – The Path Ahead: Units 1, 2, and 3 (Aula 3 Internacional)

• B1.2 – On the Right Track: Units 4, 5, and 6 (Aula 3 Internacional)

• B1.3 – Reaching the Milestone: Units 7, 8, and 9 (Aula 3 Internacional)

• B1.4 – The Final Stretch: Units 10 and 11 (Aula 3 Internacional)

At all our levels, you get to choose which course to take. Maybe you don’t want to complete the entire level and are only interested in a specific course—and that’s totally fine! If you need help deciding, get in touch with us. We’ll be happy to assess your level and guide you.

In our courses

Our classes are conducted in small groups, led by a native-speaking teacher. This ensures clarity, participation, and instant feedback.

For class materials, you’ll need the book AULA Internacional 3, a resource endorsed by the Instituto Cervantes and used in all our B1 courses: B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, and B1.4. In addition, our teachers provide extra materials and share supplementary resources to help you practice and improve your Spanish.

As a student at El Camino, you’ll also have access to El Café, our optional weekly conversation class. It’s a relaxed space where you can practice speaking, meet other classmates and teachers, and immerse yourself in a specific topic, improving your Spanish while learning new vocabulary and expressions prepared by the teacher. Each week features a new topic, allowing you to explore different subjects and enhance your Spanish in a practical and enjoyable way. 

This means that, in addition to the 24 hours of the main course, you’ll have the opportunity to add one extra hour of conversation each week at no extra cost—12 additional hours in total! 

Once you complete the B1 level, you will reach an intermediate level. You will be able to describe experiences, talk about past events and future plans, and share your personal opinions with confidence. You will handle everyday situations with ease: for example, while traveling, you can buy train tickets, ask about schedules, or solve common problems; in social conversations, you can actively participate, share your ideas, and discuss familiar or personal topics; and when enjoying TV shows or movies, you can follow the main story, understand most of the dialogue, and talk about your favorite parts. You will also be able to write clear emails and messages about everyday matters, such as inviting someone out, requesting information, or sharing your experiences.

These are just a few examples, but the key takeaway is that by the end of B1, you’ll be able to communicate independently and confidently in a wide range of situations. You will have reached a solid upper-intermediate level in Spanish: you will understand others more easily, express yourself more naturally, and be fully prepared to take the next step toward B2, continuing your Spanish journey.
